Introduction
‘Home’ exists as one of the most familiar words in the English language with little need for interpretation. ‘Home’ is seen as something comforting and cozy, or even a place of vivid motion, even if we don’t always see it that way. Think about it, just by getting ready for the day you have already interacted with more than a couple materials. Whether it be getting out of bed, brushing your teeth, or eating a bowl of cereal, you’ve already interacted with numerous materials. These actions are so engraved in our minds they seem almost secondary, often eluding to the question: What if we were these materials?
What if we were the bed sheets, razor, or refrigerator? Would our every day interactions suddenly become more violent when personified and symbolized? Is life itself a series of sinister undertones from that which we are used to?

Progression
Through a great number of render and lighting test, this animation has passed through many different concepts and procedures. Originally much of the space was intended to appear normal to make the dramatic and eerie stand out like a soar thumb. As this concept was applied however it led to much of the animation looking rather normal and bleak and took away from the overall experience.
Thus these rather normal textures of ceramic tile, plastered walls, and various wood were replaced with various biological elements ranging from various flesh, diseases and even rust in order to create a contrast between the technological and the human form. Doing so to suggest the passing of man and all that has been left behind in mankind’s wake. Throughout the animation walls can even be seen in the midst of breath, snoring, or even having a heart beat.

In addition to this we have added samples of both organic human noises (heartbeats, breathing, crying, etc..) as well as mechanical sounds to create a contrast in the piece. This technique serves to surround the viewer in tones they are familiar with, but in the style of an alien world. These sounds serve to engulf the viewer in the human form as well as the addition of technological sounds to remembrance over the past of humanity.
